Read this first: what Court is, and what it is not
Three things worth being certain about before you turn it on.
This is in-character roleplay. A case, a charge, a verdict and a sentence here are fiction your community writes together. Nothing in it is legal advice, nothing is a real legal document, and nothing it records has any meaning outside the server it was written in.
It is not the Appeals feature. Appeals is out-of-character moderation — somebody asking your staff team to reconsider a real Discord ban. Court is the opposite: an in-character courtroom for the story your members are telling. They are separate systems with separate records, separate permissions and separate pages, and neither one can reach the other.
There is no economy attached. A sentence or a final order is text somebody typed. Nothing reads it as a number, nothing applies it, and there is no fine, balance, payment or jail timer anywhere in the product.
The docket
Every case gets a number the moment it is filed, and keeps it. Filing two cases at the same time never produces two cases with the same number.

A case moves filed → scheduled → in session → awaiting decision, and ends closed or dismissed. Every move records who made it and why.
Statutes you write, charges that stay put
Your server keeps its own catalog of statutes — a code, a name, a description, a category and how serious it is. A charge copies all of that at the moment it is filed.

Rewrite § 41-02 tomorrow and this case still reads exactly as it was filed. A charge is withdrawn with a reason, never deleted.
Hearings, decisions and evidence
Hearings with a real timezone
A hearing carries the instant it sits, the timezone the court sits in, where it is held and who presides — so members in three countries read the same time. Public description and internal notes are separate fields, and only one of them is public.
Decisions are added to, never rewritten
An outcome, a summary and optional order text. Correcting a decision writes a new one that names the one it supersedes, so the record shows what was decided and what it was changed to.
Exhibits from your CAD evidence
An exhibit points at evidence already in a CAD case file, and carries the court's own ruling on whether it was admitted. Court never copies the file or changes the evidence — the chain of custody stays CAD's.
Participants, as they read then
Everyone involved is recorded with the name they had at the time. Renaming the Discord member later never rewrites what a historical case said about them.
Your wording, three ways
Criminal, civil or neutral. The terminology changes what things are called — the outcome words, the name of the court, the word for a case — and changes nothing about how any of it works. Switch later and no record is rewritten.
Notes staff can keep to themselves
A case note is public or internal, and an internal one is filtered out before it ever leaves the server — not hidden in the page. Amending a note adds a new one rather than editing the old.

An evidence record in a CAD case file becomes an exhibit in a court case, with the court's own ruling beside it.
Any kind of tribunal
Nothing in Court names a game or assumes a police department. A military tribunal, a licensing review or a civil dispute all use the same records.

It ships switched off. A server enables it under Features, and nothing exists until somebody does.
Pick your wording and your docket prefix
Criminal, civil or neutral, and the letters in front of your case numbers. Cases already filed keep what they were filed under.
Write a few statutes
A code, a name and how serious it is. You can add more at any time, and retiring one never changes a case that already cited it.
Grant the permissions
Four separate decisions: who may read the docket, who may file and maintain a case, who may decide one, and who may change the settings. Filing and judging are deliberately not the same permission.
What Court does not do
There is no paid Court tier, and no price has been set for one. What is here is free and stays free.
Not built today: exports of a case or a docket in any
format, courts shared across several servers or a shared
statute catalog, custom automation — no auto-scheduling, no
automatic dismissal on a timer, and nothing that applies a sentence — bulk
actions, and an in-character appeals process. Case management is done on the
dashboard; there is no Discord-side case editor, and /court is a
link to the docket rather than a second place to run one.
Court has no uploads of its own. An exhibit references evidence that is already in a CAD case file, and if your server does not use CAD there is simply nothing to reference.
